Supporting Local Businesses in our Community

Some rainy day “Food for thought” from Coconut Cloud’s very own Kathleen Joyce Delos Reyes

A heavy downpour had me stuck at home for a few days last week. I found myself scrolling through my community’s Facebook page. While through posts about road closures, flooded areas, and weather warnings, one post caught my eye—a local vegan business offering delivery of freshly baked goods.

The post displayed a photo of mouthwatering pastries that looked too delicious to resist. The owner, Jenn, is a stay-at-home mom with a passion for baking. She decided to offer free delivery within our area, hoping to bring a little comfort to those stuck indoors.

I decided to place an order for a banana loaf and a few cinnamon rolls. Within an hour, the delivery arrived at my door, and as I opened the bag, the comforting aroma of freshly baked pastries filled my apartment. The pastries were still warm and were perfectly paired with a cup of hot cocoa. It was like a little bit of sunshine on a rainy and gloomy day.

When I took my first bite, I was blown away by how good everything was. I immediately went back to the Facebook post to leave a 5-star review, sharing my experience and

recommending the shop to others in the community. The baker was thankful for the kind words. My review also drew some attention, helping her gain more customers.

I realized how powerful community support can be. A simple delivery order from a local business not only lifted my spirits but also helped a small business thrive. I make it a point to support local business owners, knowing that every purchase helps keep their dreams alive and our community strong.

That’s all for now <3, Kathleen
