Coconut Protein?! A new (to us) source of protein and why we’re excited about it.

As the protein craze continues to sweep America (can you believe we have protein popcorn now?!), the Coconut Cloud team came together earlier this year to start working on some ideas for a Coconut Cloud Protein Creamer; so that we too could get in on the protein game and offer a potentially more complete variation of creamer for our coconut-loving followers.
In our braindstormings, we of course discussed the use of pea protein and hemp protein, perhaps two of the most popular vegetarian and vegan protein powder options out there; but then one of our developers suggested coconut protein. How on brand for us, am I right?! We were ecstatic to hear that such a thing exists, and wanted to learn more as we continued down this product development path. Here is what we learned…
What is Coconut Protein Made Out Of?
As per ScienceDirect.com, “Coconut protein refers to the protein components found in the coconut kernel, primarily consisting of globulin and albumin fractions, which account for 40% and 21% of the total protein, respectively. These proteins exhibit antioxidant properties and include bioactive peptides with good radical-scavenging activity.”
Love a radical-scavenger…we need more of those in our life.
What is Coconut Protein Good For?
Coconut protein can help you maintain healthy weight, reduce inflammation, and even lower your risk of heart disease. With its many health benefits, coconut protein can be an ideal addition to any diet plan.
Coconut Protein Powder encompasses all the vital amino acids. It includes lysine, an amino acid that is beneficial for muscle development. Coconuts are also recognized for containing arginine, renowned for its capacity to foster muscle growth and diminish body fat, and also leucine, which significantly contributes to the body’s production of proteins, enzymes, and hormones. Additionally, coconut protein powder is a valuable source of iron and Vitamin B12. Similar to the majority of plant-based protein powders, coconut protein powder has a low carbohydrate content.
As per Aloha.com, Coconut can be a great source of protein, with one serving containing up to 7 grams of protein. Coconut protein drinks and coconut protein bars are becoming increasingly popular among those looking for a healthier alternative to traditional protein sources.
So down the path we go…and hopefully in just a few months time we will be able to share some exciting NEW PRODUCT news with you all.
Peace, Love, and Coconuts!
