Recipe: Decadent Dark Chocolate Dipped Fruit Slices (Vegan)

Our final chocolate love language is none other than dark chocolate. We've talked on this blog about dark chocolate's health benefits, and what other way to complement decadent & nutritious dark chocolate than with fruit? This recipe for vegan chocolate dipped fruit is not only stunning but also simple to follow along.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup plus 2 TBSP vegan dark chocolate chips
  • 1 TBSP Earth Balance vegan butter 
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 single serve stick Coconut Cloud Vanilla Creamer Stick
  • Sliced pears, bananas and orange slices

Directions:

  1. Line baking sheet with wax paper . Fill medium saucepan with 1 inch of water and bring to a boil.
  2. Place 3/4 cup chocolate chips in nonreactive metal bowl that fits snugly in saucepan over water. Remove saucepan from heat, place bowl in sauce pan and let stand for 3 minutes or until half of the chocolate chips are melting and shiny. Carefully remove bowl from saucepan and wipe bottom dry.
  3. Stir in shortening, salt and vanilla creamer stick and continue stirring for 2-3 minutes. Stir in remaining chocolate chips until chocolate is almost completely melted.
  4. Place bowl of chocolate over water in saucepan again, and stir 30-40 seconds or until mixture is smooth. 
  5. Hold each piece of fruit and dip into chocolate mixture until it is half coated. Place on wax paper to cool. 
  6. Let stand at room temperature for up to 2 hours. Will keep for up to 24 hours in refrigerator.
  7. Enjoy!
