The Best Keto Coconut Creamer – Rich, Delicious, Keto Friendly

is coffee creamer keto friendly

Is coffee creamer keto friendly? Not always! But it's easy to work around that.

Going on a ketogenic diet can be challenging. Much of the food we grow up with is centered around carbs, so much of adhering to the keto diet is taking the time to find proper low carb, high fat substitutes for the foods we’re accustomed to eating. We have good news, though: you don’t have to just drink your coffee black or drink it with butter (the ever-so popular bulletproof coffee) in order to have a keto compliant start to your morning.

It’s easy to make keto friendly coffee.

Here are some conventional ways people add fat to their coffee:

  • Cream
  • Half and Half
  • Butter
  • MCT Oil (Products that feature butter and MCT oil are popularly referred to as bulletproof coffee creamer)

The problem with the above is that, with the exception of coconut-derived MCT oil, the majority of these conventional options rely on cow’s milk. That’s a no-go if you seek a healthier plant-based option, don’t agree with the ethics of consuming dairy, or are simply one of 50 million lactose intolerant Americans. Luckily, many keto coffee drinkers turn to the coconut as an excellent source of healthy fats and delicious flavor.

Is coconut creamer keto?

Coconut milk and coconut cream make excellent coffee creamers, and they’re keto friendly. Coconut milk is higher in fat and calories compared to other nut milks (almond milk, soy milk) of the same unit weight, and coconut cream is the concentrated fat and protein that floats coconut milk. A true coconut creamer will comprise of good, quality coconut milk or coconut cream, and you can bet (due to the nature of coconuts’ high fat content) that it’ll be a great source of fat. Beware of coconut creamers that have added sugars to give it added sweetness or thickness. Some people may like their coconut creamers sweet, but if you’re on a keto diet, that’ll only add unwanted carbs to your coffee.

Not only is coconut creamer keto, but coconuts are a natural source of MCT oil, short for medium-chain triglycerides. If you’re unfamiliar with MCTs, MCTs are simply a form of fat that are structurally different from the fats we’re used to eating like butter, olive oil, and canola oil. Molecularly, they’re shorter than those long-chain triglycerides (LCTs) and are therefore more easily broken down for immediate energy. We on the Coconut Cloud team sometimes even refer to MCTs are “neuro nutrition” because while the body is in ketosis, the liver easily breaks down MCTs into ketones. These ketones then supply immediate energy for the brain.

Our choice of coconut creamer that’s delicious, convenient, and keto friendly is the original Coconut Cloud coconut creamer powder with MCT oil. Now, this is the Coconut Cloud blog, so we may be tooting our own horn here. But hear us out: Coconut Cloud is deliciously rich, convenient, and keto friendly. And since this is our blog, we’re really excited to have the space and time to explain why this is the ultimate keto creamer.

  1. Coconut Cream Powder
Coconut Cloud is high in fat because it uses coconut cream – the richest part of coconut milk – to add a luxurious mouthfeel to your coffee instantly. There are lots of uses for coconut cream powder, including adding it to your oatmeal, smoothies, or even coconut whipped cream. Coconut cream in coffee, however, is our personal favorite. Compared to other nut milks, it’s simply creamier and has a lighter, sweeter hint of flavor.
  2. Portable Convenience
The solution for quality, convenient coffee creamer you can bring with you on the go is pretty simple: we just took out the water. Let us explain:

We see a lot of coconut milk creamer and keto creamer recipes on the web that require mixing nut milks and other forms of fat. The benefits are that these are probably super fresh, and you control exactly what goes into your coffee creamer. But the shelf life for these homemade creamers can be 1-2 weeks, max.

You shouldn’t have to sacrifice quality of ingredients for extended shelf life. That’s why so many creamers have unnecessarily added stabilizers and preservatives. Instead, Coconut Cloud coconut creamer’s star ingredient is fine, high-quality coconut cream powder. You can add as much as you’d like with the bulk pouch or carry it around with you (you hear that, TSA?!) in dry stick packs. By simply removing the water, we don’t require refrigeration or have to add anything like carrageenans. Instead, this creamer lasts for upwards of 2 years.

  3. Keto Creamer with MCT Oil
Coconuts – they’re in the name. But of course, we would pay special homage to the coconut by adding MCT oil to our coffee creamers. We’ve mentioned the benefits of MCT oil on a keto diet, but now there’s no need to open a million different jars and wash 2-3 spoons to create the perfect bulletproof coffee. It’s all in one pouch.

Coconut cream powder + MCT oil powder = quick, convenient, bulletproof.

If you’re looking for a vegan coffee creamer that’s also keto compliant, coconut milk or coconut cream is a wonderful option. Better yet, if you’re looking for a keto coffee creamer product, we really believe Coconut Cloud may be the coconut creamer for you. If you’re looking for a keto friendly way to indulge, we have a vegan hot cocoa that also has MCT oil and is sweetened with coconut sugar.

Cheers to living that delicious keto life without having the sacrifice the good stuff!
